We’ve recovered from our 2018 Volunteer Trip, and are now recruiting for July 2019! If you think you’d like to volunteer with us in Shillong, please read the following information and get in touch with us using the Contact Form below. We would love primary and secondary teachers to volunteer and share their skills, but we also have roles for anyone willing to work hard and get involved in the project. We’ve even had volunteers change career after volunteering with us and become teachers (and return when they were qualified!). Photographers/website builders are needed to highlight our work! Some of our past pupils are now setting up their own businesses, and would be interested in working with like-minded business people.

Skills Needed:
We believe everyone has something to offer, so we’re interested to hear from you and what you could bring to our school! Last summer we had people teaching Gaelic football, gymnastics, working with the teachers on new methodologies, teaching English to small groups of students, helping out in KG, reading, working on the school’s social media and most importantly – having fun with the kids. We brought a group to a local museum and did a project on what we learned there. The school has students from age 4 to 18 so there is great scope to get involved and help out. We would love to hear from interested volunteers about what skills and experience they could bring to Providence!
Fundraising
We all pay our own way for the trip (flights, visas, vaccines etc.) and then fundraise for the school. The fundraising is necessary so that we can run the projects you’ll be helping out with. We ask that each volunteer contributes €1500 to the school. They look after us very well while we’re there, feeding us and taking us places. Fundraising is our way of saying thank you, and showing that we care about the future of the school. We believe in the work the teachers are doing in Providence and have seen the impact it has on people’s lives. While you’re there you’ll get to see how your funds are spent. We’re all volunteers so all of your money will go straight to Providence – paying for the students to eat a meal every day, for their uniforms, books, pencils, extra-curricular activities and to pay the teachers. We’ll help you out any way we can with the fundraising.
